Hankinson Painting Group’s first class health and safety record has been recognised by being awarded two accreditations.

The first being from Safecontractor for commitment to achieving excellence in health and safety.

Safecontractor is a leading third party accreditation scheme which recognises very high standards in health and safety management amongst UK Contractors. The company’s application for Safecontractor accreditation was driven by the need for a uniform standard across the business.

Ivor Thomas, Group Operations Director of Hankinson Painting Group said, “I am delighted that the efforts of all our team have been recognised by Safecontractor. The culture of our organisation is very much focused on our determination of preventing workplace accidents and work related ill health and to continuously improve our health and safety record”

John Kinge, technical director of Safecontractor said, "Major organisations simply cannot afford to run the risk of employing contractors who are not able to prove that they have sound health and safety policies in place." "More companies need to understand the importance of adopting good risk management in the way that Hankinson Painting Group has done. The firm’s high standard has set an example which hopefully will be followed by other companies within the sector.

Hankinson Painting Group also received a “Merit” from  the British Safety Council in their 2013 International Safety Awards.  This is the 12th consecutive year that Hankinson have won an award from the Council.

Alex Botha, Chief Executive of the British Safety Council, congratulated Hankinson on its success,“ On behalf of the Trustees and staff of the British Safety Council we warmly congratulate Hankinson Painting Group and its employees on gaining an International Safety Award. All of those working at Hankinson have made this award possible which recognises their dedication and commitment in preventing injury and ill-health in the workplace. It was also apparent that applicants recognise that getting health and safety right is a business enabler.

“The success criteria for our International Safety Awards is challenging and that rightly reflects the importance of ensuring the risk of injury and ill health in the workplace are properly controlled. Awards have an important part to play in driving improvements in health and safety management year on year. Hankinson should be rightly proud of their achievement. We are proud of our association with Hankinson and their commitment tokeeping their employees and workplaces healthy and safe”.
