Located in the heart of Burnley Town Centre, Charter Walk accomodates over 90 core retailers, including Boots, Next, River Island, Argos, TJ Hughes and Wilkinsons. It also has a market mall, two car parks and a five storey office block, and attracts over 250,000 visitors each week.
Opened in 1969, Charter Walk was last refurbished in 1995 when glazed canopies were introduced to cover off the otherwise exposed walkways, to create modern covered malls. The property was extended in 1999 when it was acquired by its current owners.
Following the appointment of Chris Gibben as General Manager, the decision was taken to further enhance the Shopping Centre by redecorating the whole of the property. Whittle Programmed Painting were appointed to undertake this mammoth task, and a five year maintenance programme commenced in Spring of 2005. Chris comments: "Charter Walk has been transformed by the redecoration works, and people have commented it looks 20 years younger. With the introduction of new colour schemes, we have been able to incorporate our own branding."
