Safecontractor Re-accreditation Back

Date published: June 30, 2016

Hankinson Group, including Hankinson, Whittle Programmed Maintenance and Epic, is proud to announce that it has been re-awarded accreditation from the Safecontractor scheme for its commitment to achieving excellence in health and safety, having first become a member of the scheme in 2012.

Safecontractor is a leading third party accreditation scheme which recognises very high standards in health and safety management amongst UK contractors.

Being a part of the Safecontractor scheme has allowed us to win prestigious and long term contracts with reputable companies such as Orbit Heart of England Housing and Heinz Manufacturing UK Limited.

Stephen Hankinson, Group Chief Executive said “It is important that we continually demonstrate to our clients our commitment to Health & Safety and maintaining our Safecontractor accreditation is an excellent way to achieve this. My thanks go to the SHEQ team led by Amy Pohribnyj, for achieving this successful reaccreditation.”

Maintaining Safecontractor accreditation will also enhance the company’s ability to attract new contracts and its commitment to safety will be viewed positively by all stakeholders in the business.

John Kinge, technical director of Safecontractor said, "More companies need to understand the importance of adopting good risk management in the way that Hankinson Group has done. The firm’s high standard has set an example which hopefully will be followed by other companies within the sector.”

Under the Safecontractor scheme, businesses undergo a vetting process which examines health and safety procedures and their track record for safe practice. Those companies meeting the high standard are included on a database, which is accessible to registered users only via a website.

Client-organisations who sign up to the scheme can access the database, enabling them to vet potential contractors before they even set foot on site. Over 210 major, nation-wide businesses, from several key sectors, have signed up to use the scheme when selecting contractors for services such as building, cleaning, maintenance, refurbishment or electrical and mechanical work.
