Deanna Robinson Wins Apprentice of the Year and Young Painter of the Year! Back

We are extremely proud to announce that one of our North West team apprentices, Deanna Robinson, has won an award for 'Apprentice of the Year' from Wirral Metropolitan College for the Painting & Decorating category! Deanna has shown so much promise since joining the company, and her hard work and enthusiasm mean she is a credit to the Group.

Both Carl Hampton and Jeremy Hankinson attended the awards ceremony on Thursday 11^th July 2019 at The Floral Pavilion, New Brighton, to celebrate with Deanna as she received her award. Click below to see the video of Deanna being recognised for her excellent work.

A few weeks prior to receiving this accolade, Deanna had also won the Johnstone’s Trade Liverpool regional finals of the ‘Young Painter of the Year’ competition which was hosted at Hugh Baird College – and she will now go on to compete at the nationals in November! The standard this year was very high, so it was a huge achievement for Deanna to win. A very well done to her and Hankinson Group wish her the best of luck at the finals!

Jeremy Hankinson said: “Deanna really does deserve this for all her hard work over the course of her apprenticeship so far, and she sets a great example for apprentices in the industry. We are also delighted as this comes off the back of partnering with Wirral Met College, where Deanna studies, and will hopefully be bringing in many more apprentices over the coming years with an attitude as good as Deanna’s - Best of luck at the Nationals!”

Deanna has only been an apprentice with the Hankinson Group North West team since February 2018, and she has shown so much promise since joining the company. Her hard work and enthusiasm mean that she is a credit to the Group, as well as to Wirral Metropolitan College where she studies as part of her apprenticeship programme. Deanna is looking forward to progressing her career with Hankinson Group, and will soon be developing sought-after skills in specialist decoration including marbling, trompe l’oeil and using gold leaf, which Hankinson Group have previously won awards for.

Hankinson Group currently has a total of six apprentices working throughout its various divisions, in both office-based and site-based roles. The Group continues to demonstrate its commitment to training and development in this way, as well as through the recent approval of the Industrial Coatings Applicator Trailblazer Apprenticeship Scheme that our Group Chairman (and also Chair of the Trailblazer Employers Group), Stephen Hankinson, has personally had involvement in implementing to present new opportunities for training, development and certification of new applicators by registered training providers.
