We are delighted to announce that Roy Hankinson (West Midlands) Limited has been awarded the Employer of the Year accolade at the BEST Awards held on 18th September at West Bromwich Town Hall.
David Rosser attended the presentation ceremony to accept the award, which was held to recognise the outstanding efforts of learners and employers who have made a significant contribution to the BEST project (Building Essential Skills For Construction Trades).
The BEST project is sponsored by Advantage West Midlands and aims to engage with and support local employers and link local unemployed people in the Black Country and West Birmingham with real jobs within the construction sector. Future Skills Dudley, part of Dudley Metropolitan Council lead the project in partnership with Future Skills Sandwell and Think Local Construction part of Sandwell Metropolitan Council.. This successful partnership has allowed beneficiaries to be drawn from a wide range of age groups from school pupils to apprentices to long term unemployed.
Over 100 people attended the awards ceremony to celebrate the achievements in the year. For a number of learners this is the first time they have gained a qualification so it is a huge achievement as well as developing skills that are in high demand within the construction industry.
Roy Hankinson (West Midlands) Limited are proud to be involved and provide opportunities in such a scheme. As a direct result of the BEST project have gone on to employ two local people as painters and decorators – a very successful outcome indeed.
