Roy Hankinson (West Midlands) Limited recently donated £200 to Donalfon films, a non profit amateur film making group who are making a documentary about a shipwreck that happened off the coast of Anglesey in 1859. This was a major tragedy at the time with over 400 men, women and children losing their lives. Charles Dickens who visited the area chronicled it and recalled the sad tale of a doomed voyage by the ship the ”Royal Charter” who travelled from Liverpool to Australia and back which came to grief on the rocks of the Anglesey coast in horrific gale force winds. They have two years to make the film as 2009 coincides with the 150th anniversary of the tragedy.
